Post 1943 is an active unit of the Scottish American Military Society in the Mid-South region. We welcome any and all veterans of the Armed Forces that are interested in their Scottish heritage.
We are very active in the Memphis and Mid-South communities. We provide a Color Guard for public events including civic parades, Scottish festivals, and military funerals. Post 1943 supports the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps in the local Memphis high schools by providing a merit-based scholarship and medal to exemplary cadets. Our members devote their time and energy volunteering at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Hospital to ensure the proper "care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan," as President Lincoln directed.
